Our Portuguese Laurel at 4-5ft (120-150cm) in a 20L pot is a strong, well-established evergreen hedging plant, ideal for creating reliable privacy, structure and year-round screening. Grown on for density and form, it offers an excellent balance of manageable size and immediate impact. Our plants are all sold as 4ft (120cm) in height and are growing every day so will not take long to reach the desired height.

Prunus lusitanica is a refined evergreen known for its glossy dark green foliage and attractive red stems. It provides a more elegant alternative to traditional laurel, making it suitable for both formal hedges and contemporary garden designs.

Portuguese Laurel is relatively slow growing and one can expect up to a foot (30cm) of growth a year if left untrimmed. This 4-5ft container-grown size is ideal for establishing a hedge where a slightly lower starting height is preferred, while still achieving quick coverage once planted. It works well for garden boundaries, driveway screening and structured evergreen planting schemes.

A Portuguese Laurel hedge will need to be trimmed annually in the spring or autumn. We recommend trimming in the spring before a new flush of growth.

We recommend planting these Portuguese Laurel at 2ft (60cm) apart (as shown in the product photograph) and they will quickly thicken out to join up and form a dense hedge. Once established, it is hardy, low maintenance and highly reliable for long-term screening.
