Japanese Maple Sangokaku

These Japanese Maples are the variety officially known as Acer palmatum 'Sango-kaku'.

Acer palmatum ‘Sangokaku’ (also known as 'Senkaki'), or the Coral Bark Maple, is a true four-season star.

In spring, its soft lime-green leaves emerge with a hint of pink, glowing against vivid coral-red young branches.  As summer progresses, the foliage deepens to a fresh green, before transforming into buttery golds and warm apricots in autumn.  In winter, the striking red bark steals the show—especially in low sunlight.

Ideal for UK gardens, ‘Sangokaku’ brings elegant structure and colour all year round. Perfect for borders or containers, it thrives in sheltered spots with dappled light, adding grace, warmth, and seasonal magic to any garden.
