Create instant eye-level screening with these mature Carpinus betulus hedging trees. Standing 12–13ft tall from the top of the root ball, these trees have been regularly trimmed to form dense, ready-made hedges that will thicken further over the coming seasons.

Hornbeam is a classic UK native, known for its lush green spring foliage that turns golden-copper in autumn. Unlike many deciduous species, hornbeam keeps its brown leaves through most of winter, providing year-round visual privacy.

Hornbeam trees are well suited to heavier soils but if you are planting during the drier months of the year, it is important to water them properly during their first year after planting.
