Griselinia and Elaeagnus, for example, are excellent for coastal planting thanks to their salt tolerance and hardiness. Aucuba (commonly known as spotted laurel), though not a true laurel, is a great option for shaded areas – ideal for a low hedge that maintains vibrant colour even in low light.
