Pre-order information

This is a seasonal product that can only be dug from our production fields when the tree/plant has gone dormant and the temperatures are correct. We are expecting this item to be available from mid October 2025.

Sold in bundles of 25, Field Maple (Acer campestre) is a cost-effective way to plant a native hedge. These 60-100cm tall, bare-root plants are dug straight from the field and should be planted promptly to avoid root damage.

Key Benefits:

  • Native & Hardy: A versatile deciduous hedging plant that thrives in most soil types.

  • Seasonal Foliage: Leaves turn vibrant yellow in autumn, often with red flushes for extra color.

  • Traditional Hedge Plant: Commonly found in UK farm hedges, Field Maple is ideal for mixed-species hedges with plants like Hawthorn, Blackthorn, and Dog Rose.

  • Wildlife-Friendly: Supports local wildlife and birds when part of a native hedge.

Planting & Care:

  • Spacing: Plant 45cm apart in a single row, or 60cm apart in a double row for a denser hedge.

  • Soil: Tolerates most soil types.

  • Protection: Use Rootgrow to promote strong root development and spiral tree guards for protection against deer and rabbits.

Why Choose Our Field Maple Hedging?

  • Affordable: A budget-friendly way to create a native, vibrant hedge.

  • Easy to Establish: Simple planting and care instructions.

  • Adds Seasonal Color: Enjoy bright yellow and red autumn foliage for a stunning display.
